SYDNEY OFF ROAD RACING ASSOCIATION

The club members epitomise "built not bought" motor racing. For every lap that has been run at the grounds, countless hours of engineering have taken place in the homes and garages of members, old and new. From building cars from scratch to modifying last year's buggy to go that little bit quicker.

Taking the hours, days and weeks required to put the cars on the track for the reward of a trophy or perhaps just a great yarn to spin at the bar. It's common to see a $2,000 car sharing the track with a $200,000 trophy truck. A 13-year-old junior racing against a 70 year old veteran. A daughter doing better times than her father, a mother doing the timing then jumping behind the wheel for some hot laps.

The club has literally risen from the ashes following the devastating bushfires in 2019 that saw the majority of infrastructure and assets burnt to the ground. Significant work from the committee & members has seen numerous recovery funds and other financial aid applied for and granted.

New equipment and buildings have risen from those ashes. SORRA, proudly, now has the best timing and officials tower in the Southern Hemisphere under construction. All built by members attending working bees, where the fun is in the building of something new, the rebuilding of old or damaged items and the family oriented BBQ’s that working-bee participants enjoy.
